Wendy's Latest Ads Didn't Boost Sales

A Wendy's in Brantford, OntarioImage via Wikipedia

Wendy's was banking on it's latest ad marketing blitz, with their new tag line "You Know When It's Real" to boost sales. Also they were planning on a huge boost from their new Bacon Deluxe burgers.

While Applewood Smoked Bacon is tasty, it seems like business as usual. From what I can tell it's just their standard burgers with bacon.

Nothing that would expand and draw in a wider group than the standard fast food crowd.

The "Big Mac" Wars Are On

Bigger Big MacImage by Simon Miller via Flickr

The "Big Mac" wars are on, all over the western U.S. Carl's Jr launched the first shot with the "Big Carl" priced a little bit under the Big Mac, and they claim has more meat and cheese than the Big Mac. Of course the Angus at McDonalds is about 20% cheaper than the "Six Dollar Buger" at Carl's Jr.

Now Jack in the Box is jumping in with a sweet $3.99 combo deal (the burger is $2.79). Bringing back a classic menu item, that no one under 35 will have heard of since it was last on the menu during the Carter years. The classic item called "Bonus Jack" having had online petitions for years to bring it back, is finally back.

The Bonus Jack is loaded with 2 patties, with a center bun like the Big Mac, special sauce, lettuce, tomato, cheese, and onions.

They say that it is a limited time offer, but it sounds pretty darn good, I hope they keep this one on the menu.

Best of all it cost nothing for you to give, and nothing for them to redeem on August 27th with the printed coupon. Pat & Oscar's Adds Menu Items

Creamed SpinachImage by inuyaki.com via Flickr

Pat & Oscar's Adds Menu Items

Presumably these new menu additions are epic good. These champion items have led to a kick ass 11% increase in sales at the test stores introduced at.

The menu additions, created by company executive chef Greg Schroeppel, include a Bangkok Chopped Chicken Salad and several new side items.

The side items — creamed corn with roasted poblano peppers, creamed spinach, garlic rice, mac and cheese and coleslaw.

This is a great idea... sometimes I just don't want fries with my order. So I just get the sandwich without the combo. The more sides you offer in the combo, the more often I purchase a combo.
